Anti-Capitalism and Antisemitism
November 16, 2019 @ 1:10 pm - 2:10 pm GMT
This half day conference, A Socialist Britain: What Are We In For? is co-hosted by the Ayn Rand Institute (https://ari.aynrand.org) and the Ayn Rand Centre UK.
“Socialism is the doctrine that man has no right to exist for his own sake, that his life and his work do not belong to him, but belong to society, that the only justification of his existence is his service to society, and that society may dispose of him in any way it pleases for the sake of whatever it deems to be its own tribal, collective good.”
Many decades after Ayn Rand identified the moral nature of socialist theory, and its inevitable consequences when put into practice, socialist parties and politicians are gaining popularity, most notably in the US and the UK. Why are those who have enjoyed the tremendous benefits of freedom demanding an end to it? How have advocates of free market policies failed at making the case for them, despite the evidence in their favour? And what will happen to this country if the chants in the streets turn into official government policy?
On November 16th panels will look at the potential impact of socialism on the UK, with a focus on topics such as financial services, free speech, and the increasing demands to ban everything under the sun.
Confirmed speakers: Yaron Brook, Toby Young, Douglas Carswell, Lucy Harris MEP, Christopher Snowdon, Andrew Boff, and Soutiam Goodarzi. More speakers will be announced on the London Ayn Rand Meetup page. Panels & speakers subject to change. RSVP to receive an email as soon as tickets are released.
